A favor: 1.- Cientos de miles de visitas (más de 1 millón sumando los diferentes canales y 600.000 la parodia “mendocera”). Todo el mundo habla de ello. Casi todos lo hemos visto y a la mayoría le ha encantado la colección, que es de lo que se trata.
2.- ROI de más de 15 millones de € de publicity con una inversión mínima.
3.- Rejuvenece la marca.
4.- Seguro que los bolsos se agotan. La clave de cualquier campaña.
5.- Fomenta el sentimiento de pertenencia a una tribu. Los pijos. Su público objetivo. Y prescriptor.
6.- Lo decimos siempre. Reinventarse o morir. En el mundo actual fomentamos la prueba / error. No quedarte parado esperando a que pase algo, arriesgarte. Y en este sentido “chapeau” al Director de Marketing, lo fácil es hacer lo de siempre como la mayoría con los anuncios de tele, desfiles, etc. Ya no valen las reglas de antes.
Y una razón por qué no:
1.- Ya que haces algo nuevo y pretendidamente moderno que tenga calidad y no sea ñoño o protagonizado por gente que parecen Memos. Aunque si hubiera sido así no gozaría del rotundo éxito que ha cosechado.
MEME
Una buena campaña viral debe ser, por definición, rápida de expansión (como un virus Informático que se autoreplica sin parar), fácil de compartir (divertido y/o interesante) y que genere opinión. Un Meme, según Richard Dawkins, es la unidad mínima de información que nos transmitimos unos a otros.
Ser trending topic en redes sociales y noticia de todos los informativos y diarios es lo que ansiamos todos los comunicadores con nuestras campañas y lo de Loewe es, sencillamente, increíble e injusto (lo digo con clara envidia) por lo que nos cuesta llegar a las 100.000 visitas con grandes producciones.
Desde este punto de vista, como he comentado, el último vídeo de Loewe Oro Collection, inspirado en la edad de Oro madrileña (los 70 y 80) es un rotundo éxito. Su objetivo era acercar una marca fundada en Madrid en 1846 a los veinteañeros y lo han conseguido. Para ello han reclutado a varios modernos y algunos de los hijos de quienes marcaron aquella época.
Grandes vídeos de artistas pasan a duras penas de las 1.000 visitas y el lanzado el pasado lunes por la tarde ha superado el millón de visitas en menos de una semana, el primer día 300.000 y un retorno de la inversión (que no habrá superado los 20.000€) de 15 millones de €!!!.
¿Pero vale aquello de que “hablen de mi aunque sea mal”?. O debemos ser escrupulosos con el axioma de la comunicación “Hacerlo bien, hacerlo saber”. Puede una compañía con más de 150 años de experiencia arriesgar su prestigio? Y más teniendo en cuenta la exquisitez del mundo de la moda. Lanvin también lo ha conseguido con sus modelos bailando al ritmo de Pitbull aunque con menos éxito viral y mejor estética.
Pero señores/as las reglas han cambiado. Reinventarse o morir. Y es este sentido lo que ha hecho una firma como Loewe me parece digno de reconocimiento y su campaña se ha convertido en un rotundo éxito, aunque no nos guste o nos sintamos identificados. Yo no compraré jamás esos bolsos.
MEMOS
Simplemente se critica el tono ñoño, naïf, cursi o pijo del vídeo (“el amor es superguay” o “la palabra Loewe la asocio a Love” son ya míticas). Que lo tiene y mucho. Los protagonistas parecen auténticos memos. Pero no se ha cometido ningún error digno de manual de crisis. Ni discriminaciones raciales o sexuales, ni referencias religiosas, ni infantiles. No hay nada por lo que la marca deba pedir perdón. Sólo por ser muy pija. Y eso es lo que es.
¿Cuántos bolsos venderán?, seguro que se van a agotar. ¿Cuántos de los que critican son compradores o futuros compradores?, seguro que pocos pueden pagar 2.000 € por bolso. Sólo los pijos como los que salen en el vídeo.
Y EL EFECTO STREISAND
Todos los publicistas y comunicadores somos conscientes del valor de la publicity, la información periodística, no pagada, que habla de nuestras marcas. Un ejemplo claro es el de Kony 2012 una obra maestra de la viralidad y de publicity. Ya no son, solo, los medios los que deciden lo que es o no noticia.
Uno de los pioneros en obtener publicity fue el maestro Oliverio Toscani para Benetton. La última campaña de la firma italiana de ropa sigue esa senda con el Papa besándose con un Imán. Evidentemente buscaba salir en los medios, a sabiendas que iba a ser retirada inmediatamente, y además consiguiendo el efecto Streisand (debe su nombre a la demanda que interpuso Bárbara Streisand exigiendo la retirada de unas fotos), que consiste en que una vez algo se censura o se retira aumenta su viralidad.
¿Era una estética planeada?, el resultado ¿es fruto de casualidad o estaba buscado?. Es un estilo “Amo a Laura” de MTV o les ha salido así de cursi sin pretenderlo?. Pronto sabremos más. Seguro que se estudiará como modelo de éxito. Aunque hay opiniones para todos los gustos las ventas darán el veredicto.
Desde aquí mis felicitaciones a Loewe por el éxito rotundo de la campaña, desde la sana envidia.

Si LOEWE sacase un viral dónde viésemos a toda esta gente cagando dentro de los bolsos, sin duda tendrían millones de visitas, todo el mundo hablaría de la campaña, y según esta regla de 3 sería un éxito porque LOEWE estaría en boca de todo el mundo y conseguiríamos ese ansiado ROI.
No, no es así. Dará que hablar, pero la campaña sigue siendo una mierda.
Más que rejuvenecer la marca, la desfigura. Si por algo se ha caracterizado LOEWE es por la elegancia, sutileza, clase… Valores que, desgraciadamente ya sea por la edición del video o por obra hereditaria, los protagonistas carecen totalmente de ellos. No aluden a características que van un poco más allá como la coherencia, la sensatez y el buen gusto. Con este vídeo se ha puesto en tela de juicio un valor muy importante. La inteligencia. Y ser inteligente significa conseguir que este vídeo sea un petardazo teniendo muchísimos más votos positivos que negativos. Y esto, amigo mío, en la publicidad no es fácil. Lo fácil es hacerlo mal y cagar en el bolso de Loewe. Piénsalo.
